In 2023 I attended a lecture about the impact that fast fashion has on the environment, seeing all the landfils and oceans affected by the non-degrable materials was so devastating. It then became clear to me what kind of a fashion designer I wanted to be - a sustainability driven one. I was inspired by how other designers are upcycling and repurposing second hand clothing to help reduce waste and be kinder to the planet. So I started exploring upcycling myself and that's when my upcycled clothing brand Sarafina M was born. I upcycle men's preloved suits, reworking them to create womens blazers, waistcoats and sets. I love the quality of men's suits and the tailored structure which makes the clothes I make timeless in both style and durability.
